As Digital Media Manager, Jason is responsible for NCTE's website, social media, design and campaign creation to support NCTE’s legislative, policy, public education, and fundraising goals.

State Policy Counsel

As State Policy Counsel Arli works with state advocates to modernize name change laws, state ID regulations, and birth certificate policies, and is dedicated to improving and expanding access to legal services for trans communities through NCTE’s Trans Legal Services Network.

As Administrative and Development Associate, Lauren coordinates the activities of our busy Executive Director, organizes external events and speaking engagements, and serves as initial point of contact for the organization.

Director of External Relations

Raffi Freedman-Gurspan is the Director of External Relations at the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), where she oversees public education and field organizing operations.

As a Family Organizer, Debi connects with families of trans youth across the country, offering guidance on how they can tell their stories and feel empowered to advocate for their children anywhere from the local, state, or even federal level.

As the Community Storytelling Advocate, Rebecca elevates the stories of transgender people and their allies by overseeing NCTE’s Voices for Trans Equality and Families for Trans Equality programs, and by conducting both storytelling and messaging trainings with trans people and allies across the country.

Racial and Economic Justice Policy Advocate

Kory Masen is a transgender Latino from Tijuana, Mexico. As the Racial and Economic Justice Policy Advocate at the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) he helps shape the organization’s advocacy and policy work for transgender people of color and those with low or no-income.

Lisa Mottet

Deputy Executive Director

As Deputy Executive Director, Lisa is responsible for stewarding the organization's advocacy, fundraising, and communications work and directs our local and state advocacy work. Lisa was the first attorney working full-time on transgender rights at the national level in 2001.

DeShanna Neal

Family Organizer

DeShanna Neal, a Family Organizer, works to help families of trans youth know their rights and find their voice.

Daniel Shad

Development Manager

As the Development Manager, Daniel is primarily responsible for organizing NCTE’s fundraising events and managing individual donor relations.

Harper Jean Tobin

Director of Policy

As Director of Policy, Harper Jean leads NCTE's advocacy with Congress and federal agencies and oversees NCTE's state policy work. She also serves on the board of HIPS, an organization that promotes rights, health and safety for those involved in sex work, sex trade, or drug use in the DC area.

Jami Westerhold

Development Director

As the Director of Development, Jami coordinates all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and sponsorship development at NCTE. She focuses on building relationships and engaging NCTE’s supporters while working with corporate sponsors to develop partnerships.

Jay Wu

Communciations Manager

As Communications Manager, Jay is responsible for spreading the word about NCTE's work and issues important to the transgender community, including by running NCTE's Medium page.

Cerys Beckwith

Undergraduate Intern

As an undergraduate intern at NCTE, Cerys assists with tasks throughout the organization, from writing Medium articles to a variety of operational assignments and other projects.

Spring 2018 Undergraduate Intern

As a queer, two-spirit scholar and activist, Michaé applied to NCTE to translate their on-campus queer/trans advocacy at California State University Northridge to a national level.

Airin Chen

Airin Chen (They/Them/Theirs)

Legal Intern

As legal intern, Airin applies legal research and writing skills to support NCTE policy work. They are a first-year law student at Georgetown University, hoping to focus on health care law and policy. Airin is passionate about LGBTQ health, racial equity, and queer artistry.
