Policy Counsel

As Policy Counsel, Luc advocates to ensure transgender people can access life-affirming, nondiscriminatory health care at the federal and state level.

Arli Christian

Arli Christian

State Policy Director

As State Policy Director Arli works with state advocates to modernize name change laws, state ID regulations, and birth certificate policies, and is dedicated to improving and expanding access to legal services for trans communities through NCTE’s Trans Legal Services Network.

Colton Boyd (he/him/his)

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, Colton is responsible for functions in human resources, information technology, purchasing, logistics and other facets of routine operations at NCTE.

Gillian Branstetter (she/her/hers)

Media Relations Manager

As the Media Relations Manager for NCTE, Gillian helps answer questions from journalists and members of the press about policies, issues, and campaigns led by NCTE.

Mateo De La Torre (he/él)

Racial and Economic Justice Policy Advocate

Mateo De La Torre is a transgender Latino from Tijuana, Mexico. As the Racial and Economic Justice Policy Advocate at the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) he helps shape the organization’s advocacy and policy work for transgender people of color and those with low or no-income.

Lauren M. Dow (she/they)

Development Associate

As Development Associate, Lauren supports the growth of NCTE by maintaining relationships with individual donors, managing our supporter database, and serving as initial point of contact for donor inquiries.

As NCTE’s Digital Strategist, Charles manages NCTE's digital presence across social media.

 

Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen (he/him/his)

Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Action

Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen is a transgender policy, advocacy, and messaging expert. As a transgender man, his wide-ranging experience in the LGBTQ movement has covered field organizing, leadership development, fundraising, and media advocacy.

Mara Keisling is the founder and executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, the nation’s leading social justice advocacy organization winning life-saving change for transgender people.

Lissette Miller (they/them/theirs)

Survey Outreach Coordinator

Lissette Miller (they/them pronouns) is a Black Nicaragüense non-binary queerdo surviving and thriving on Piscataway land/Chocolate City D.C. As outreach coordinator for the 2020 US Trans Survey, they are honored to connect with trans and non-binary people throughout the U.S.

Lisa Mottet

Deputy Executive Director

As Deputy Executive Director, Lisa is responsible for stewarding the organization's advocacy, fundraising, and communications work and directs our local and state advocacy work. Lisa was the first attorney working full-time on transgender rights at the national level in 2001.

Director of Finance and Operations

As Director of Finance and Operations, Patrick is responsible for ensuring NCTE’s operational efficiency and fiscal health by overseeing finance, budgeting, human resources, staff development, technology, and other aspects of NCTE’s day-to-day operations.

As Director, Arjee leads the development and implementation of the 2020 U.S. Trans Survey.

Alex Roberts (he/him/his)

Workplace Inclusion Manager

As the Workplace Inclusion Manager for NCTE, Alex works to ensure safe and inclusive environments for transgender people by conducting inclusion trainings for employers across the country.

Daniel Shad

Daniel Shad (he/him/his)

Development Manager

As the Development Manager, Daniel is primarily responsible for organizing NCTE’s fundraising events and managing individual donor relations.

Harper Jean Tobin (she/her/hers)

Director of Policy

As Director of Policy, Harper Jean leads NCTE's advocacy with Congress and federal agencies and oversees NCTE's state policy work. She also serves on the board of HIPS, an organization that promotes rights, health and safety for those involved in sex work, sex trade, or drug use in the DC area.

Development Director

As the Director of Development, Jami coordinates all aspects of fundraising, donor relations, and sponsorship development at NCTE. She focuses on building relationships and engaging NCTE’s supporters while working with corporate sponsors to develop partnerships.

Jay Wu (they/them/theirs)

Director of Communications

As Director of Communications, Jay leads NCTE's strategic communications program, promoting the organization's policy change and public education work and increasing acceptance of and justice for transgender people.

Dylan Yellowlees (they/them/theirs)

Executive Assistant

As Executive Assistant, Dylan coordinates the activities of our Executive Director, organizes external events and speaking engagements, and serves as initial point of contact for the organization.

Fellows & Interns

Nicholas Guillory (he/him/his)

Legal Fellow

Nicholas (he/him/his) received a B.A. from St. Edwards University in 2018 and is currently a law student at the University of Houston Law Center. While in Houston, Nicholas volunteers with Trans Legal Aid Clinic Houston. Prior to law school, he worked as an intern in the Texas State Senate.

Mary Hirsch is a rising 3L at Saint Louis University who is working at the National Center for Transgender Equality for the summer.

Katherine O'Connor (they/them/theirs)

Intern

Katherine O'Connor (they/them) is a rising 11th grader passionate about queer liberation. After working on the Yes on 3 campaign in Massachusetts (2018) as a dedicated volunteer leader, and later site coordinator, they have restarted and presently serve on Mass Equality’s field team.
