Lauren M. Dow (she/her/hers)
As Administrative and Development Associate, Lauren coordinates the activities of our busy Executive Director, organizes external events and speaking engagements, and serves as initial point of contact for the organization.
Lauren brings a variety of professional experiences in non-profit and government work, and extensive involvement in the LGBTQ community, which serve in her role of supporting all programs and operations. Prior to joining NCTE, she was a Presidential appointee in the Office of the Under Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she worked on programs which bring the voices of all communities to the transportation decision-making process. She has also worked in both the U.S. Senate—for her home state Senator—and the U.S. House of Representatives during an internship through the Victory Congressional Internship program.
A proud graduate of Missouri State University, Lauren served on the Steering Committee of the Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC) and the Board of Directors of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of the Ozarks (GLO Center), where she advanced from Volunteer Coordinator to Vice President. She now volunteers for causes of children’s advocacy, homeschool reform, and educating the east coast about Missouri and the Ozarks, which she firmly believes could be a full-time job.
