Lauren M. Dow (she/they)
As Development Associate, Lauren supports the growth of NCTE by maintaining relationships with individual donors, managing our supporter database, and serving as initial point of contact for donor inquiries.
Lauren joined the team as Executive and Development Associate in 2017. She brings a variety of professional experiences in non-profit and government work, and extensive involvement in the LGBTQ community. Prior to joining NCTE, she was a Presidential appointee in the Office of the Under Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she worked on programs which bring the voices of all communities to the transportation decision-making process. She has also worked in both the U.S. Senate—for her home state Senator—and the U.S. House of Representatives during an internship through the Victory Congressional Internship program.
A proud graduate of Missouri State University, Lauren served on the Steering Committee of the Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, and Ally College Conference (MBLGTACC) and the Board of Directors of the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of the Ozarks (GLO Center), where she advanced from Volunteer Coordinator to Vice President. She now volunteers for causes of children’s advocacy, homeschool reform, and educating the east coast about Missouri and the Ozarks, which she firmly believes could be a full-time job.
