Washington, DC—Following the second allegation of sexual harassment against Jeffrey Tambor, the star of Amazon’s “Transparent.” National Center for Transgender Equality Executive Director Mara Keisling issues the following statement:

Van Barnes and Trace Lysette are friends and my sisters. That this sort of thing has happened to them is heartbreaking for all of us at NCTE. That it happens so frequently—particularly to trans women—should horrify all of society. It is particularly tragic that these assaults occurred around a show that has done so much good for trans people, under the truly visionary leadership of Jill Soloway. The entire NCTE family is fully behind Trace and Van and all victims of sexual harassment and assault.

According to the 2015 U.S. Trans Survey, nearly half (47%) of all trans adults have experienced sexual assault in their lifetimes.
