Kavanaugh was personally approved by anti-transgender lobbyists
After seeking approval from anti-LGBT lobbyists who guaranteed he would gut the Affordable Care Act, President Trump has nominated Brett Kavanaugh to a lifetime seat on the Supreme Court of the United States.
Kavanaugh is the favorite of the Family Research Council, one of the nation’s largest anti-LGBTQ groups. Kavanaugh has argued for near limitless power of the president - all but ensuring he would defend even the most arbitrary of Trump's policies like the ban on transgender troops.
Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, gave the following response to Kavanaugh’s nomination:
“Donald Trump isn’t just picking his own judge - he’s picking his own jury. Judge Kavanaugh would be a clear rubber stamp for this administration’s direct attacks on transgender people. Whether hearing a case about the hateful ban on our brave troops or the heartless attack on transgender students, you can be sure Brett Kavanaugh will move heaven and Earth to protect both this President’s wrongdoing and his wrong-headed policies.
“Kavanaugh is devoted to gutting and overturning Roe v. Wade, endangering access for millions of Americans to safe and legal abortions. We hope every Senator takes seriously their responsibility to oppose such a biased and partisan nominee.”
