Like a lot of folks around the country, we’ve been very concerned about the bathroom bounty bills that have sprung up in 7 or 8 states this year.

As a transgender person and executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, I know that transgender people as a whole are necessarily resilient. And we saw that too in Bruce Jenner tonight.

I watched ABC tonight, when, during an interview with Diane Sawyer, Bruce Jenner came out as a transgender woman. Like Jenner, I transitioned a little bit later in life.

It has finally happened. As a transgender advocate, part of me has always dreaded the day when the right-wing fringe would make fear-mongering about transgender people their latest hobby horse.
