Middle Schooler Organizes Hometown’s First Ever Pride Parade

Arlington middle schooler Mason Taylor made history last month by holding the Virginia city’s first pride parade.
Mason, a transgender boy, is out to his supportive parents, his friends, and people at his school. He acts as a student leader for Gunston Middle School’s Gay Straight Alliance, a group that was started by a group of trans students just two years ago. After Trump’s military ban on transgender people, Mason was moved to advocate for an event that neither his school nor the city of Arlington had held — before.
