From the Statehouse to the Streets: Taking Action for Trans Rights
Join A4TE on Trans Day of Visibility as we empower activists in every state to defend trans rights. State legislatures are now in session across the country, and wherever you are, you can make an impact. Anyone can be an outstanding advocate for trans equality.
Whether you've testified before or you're not sure where to start, this session will equip you with the tools to testify at your state capitol, school boards, city councils, and more! Led by A4TE staff, this training will cover:
- the basics of public testimony
- best practices for crafting a compelling and impactful statement
- how to share personal stories while practicing safety and well-being
Whether it's in the state house or the streets, change is driven by many forms of action, including public testimony, protests, and more.
In the second half of our session, Eliel Cruz (he/they), co-founder of Gender Liberation Movement, will teach us how to safely participate in direct action! This is for anyone who is new to direct action or interested in sharpening your skills. We'll share tips and tricks on participating in direct actions safely as activists and advocates for trans rights.
